Lead Monitor - Sage Commons

Position Summary 

The Lead Monitor will support a team of monitors to ensure the smooth operation of the facility during non-office hours. The primary responsibilities of a lead monitor include training other monitors, maintaining a safe and secure environment, enforcing program policies, and engaging with residents. This position plays a crucial role in coordinating activities, addressing emergencies, and fostering a positive atmosphere within the shelter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Supervise and lead a team of monitors to maintain a cohesive and effective unit.
  • Provide monitors with facility orientation, hands on safety training, room safety procedures, maintenance processes and cleanliness standards. 
  • Monitor residents' compliance with program policies and rules, escalating issues as needed.
  • Foster a welcoming environment by engaging with clients and addressing their needs.
  • Coordinate the distribution of client meals and supplies.
  • Update program inventory and submit program supplies orders to the manager weekly. 
  • Cross train in weekly facility inspections to offer back up support in Program Managers absence.
  • Utilize crisis intervention techniques to de-escalate situations, prioritizing staff and client safety.
  • Provide guidance and support to monitors in handling crisis situations.
  • Coordinate with Security Contractor for services on an as needed basis.
  • Oversee the completion and timely submission of support documentation by other monitors including monitor communication forms, daily shift reports, and incident reports. 
  • Ensure accurate maintenance of resident sign-in/out logs and other relevant records.
  • Answer telephone and route calls or messages to appropriate staff. Respond to in-person and telephone inquiries from the public.

  • Other relevant duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

The successful candidate will have a High School Diploma or GED equivalency or 1 year experience working with the homeless or other at-risk population. Spanish speaking, preferred.

• The ability to safely operate a motor vehicle to transport oneself, others and program supplies as necessary. 

• The physical ability to travel to assigned locations, stand, stoop, bend, reach, pull, push, lift, grasp, climb, talk, see, hear and perform basic and light home maintenance activities, and operate office equipment. 

• The physical ability to move and lift light objects up to 30 pounds such as mail, supplies, files, and equipment. 

• The ability to operate office equipment requiring continuous or repetitive hand/arm movements. 

• The ability to remain in a sitting position for extended periods of time.
